Summer Fun and Sleepless Nights

I can't believe how much fun we've been having this Summer already. I'm so so grateful I get to stay home with Nora and do fun things with her everyday. I'm truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband who supports that decision.

We hit the pool up at least once a week and despite slathering her up with SPF 50 she's kind of getting a little baby tan going on. She's always loved her baths and the pool is no exception. I'm so happy she enjoys getting in the water.

I can't wait to share more of the fun things we've been doing.

On a less fun note, I'm still having such a hard time getting Nora to sleep consistently through the night. I'm considering trying the Ferber progressive wait method (cry it out method). I'm just not sure I'd be able to do it. My daughter is such a stubborn little thing, she'll cry for 25 minutes straight with no sign of giving up. I'm curious to know if anyone else has used this method and if it worked. I know I've instilled some bad habits in her like rushing in the second she makes a peep but I just can't bear to hear her cry. I mean nobody loves to hear the baby cry, right?

K Jessica! I stalk you blog! eek! Its Shea Wade...again. Sorry I never got back to you about the pictures! We got SO busy when I e-mailed you and never got them done! Anyway...on the crying it out thing. YES it works! It is going to suck for you and Darin for a couple days, but it's so worth it. I also do this with my kids when I take them off the binki. It's worked for me and all 3 of my kiddos. Good LUCK

Hi Jessi! Sorry I didn't get the chance to chat at the farewell!

I so hear you on the sleep thing - Cael was the same way. I also couldn't stand to hear him cry, it was just HARD! But finally I got desperate enough to try. People had told me to for ages, and I thought they were harsh, but it did work. I did it progressively - 5 minutes the first few nights, then 10, then 15. When I went back in his room, I would say something soothing (trying to use the same words each night) and then leave again so he knew what to expect and that I would always come back. Now there are still plenty of nights that he struggles if he's ill or teething, but otherwise he's a MUCH better sleeper!!

I didn't try it until he was well over a year, so it was a LONG TIME before the sleepless nights made me desperate enough. I would just say that if you try it, be sure YOU are ready and can stick to it or it will backfire!

Good luck!

Totally worth it. I would suggest going out on your front porch or turning on a movie so you can't hear her. It's hard, but the sooner you do it the better. Good luck!

First of all she is so cute! Thanks for all of the pictures. And... it sort of worked for Lexi. I wasn't 100% commited. I felt like she hated me, but she just started sleeping finally for 12 hours. I think you should try it, but now they are way more active so i think she'll just get sleepier, but i have no idea!!
