Sold!

We got back from our California trip on Saturday which was a lot of fun (I will be posting pics shortly). The Tuesday that we were on our trip I got a call from the agent of the guy who is buying our house. She said they were ready to close (which was a HUGE surprise to us because we didn't think we would be closing until July 10th) So since we weren't even in state we had to have the title company email us the documents and we overnighted them back. But the crazy part about all of it was that we had to be out of our condo by 3pm on SUNDAY! Mind you, that we didn't even get home from Cali until 8pm on Saturday night. So in a matter of about 8 hours we moved and cleaned our entire condo. It was utter ChAoS. I couldn't pack well because we were trying to hurry so fast and now all of our stuff is just scattered everywhere through Darin's parents house. Luckily we have some great family and friends that were there to help us. It was really overwhelming but we are so happy it is over with and now we can start the building process of our new home. I feel so bad for my pup. He's so confused with everything that is going on right now. He was at my Grandmas while we were gone then we get home for one night and all this crazy stuff is happening. He was throwing up all Sunday morning because he was so stressed out. It's really weird how they can sense things that are happening. The poor thing. Anyway I was hoping to get our California pictures up soon but considering I don't even know where my camera is right now, it might take a few days.

Hell is a place where they wax you all day....

Torture!! Complete and utter torture!! I DO NOT know why I put myself through such pain. So I had my wax yesterday and the only word to describe it was just INTENSE. So intense that I am laying there on the paper covered spa table sweating so bad that the paper is soaked and sticking to my skin in tiny peices. (who mixes wax and paper anyway? c'mon) My whole body is shaking so much that the poor girl probably thought I was having a seizure. So she waxes my legs and then proceeds to pull out the tweezers to "pluck the stray hairs" which honestly felt like she was jamming a sewing needle into my skin. What satisfaction it would have been to just grab her tweezers and gouge her eyes out or just kick her in the face. I know, I know the poor girl is just trying to do her job so I kept my feet to myself. If I am ever on here saying I'm going to get a wax, just kill me. Death probably wouldn't hurt as bad.

It was fun....

getting to choose all of the stuff for our new house. There were so many options. These are the selections we made but it's kind of hard to see them. It's hard to tell if everything is going to go well together. I hope we don't walk in and hate it. And we had another thing added to our luck list; they just barely changed it to where tile, granite, two tone pain and Alder cabinets come standard. So we didn't spend as much on upgrades as we thought we would. I can't wait for them to start building. I'm going to be the person that drives by every single day to see what's been done. Haha!

How will I fit it all!?!?

So maybe if I write about all the stuff I have to do it might relieve a little of my stress and help me remember everything. This will probably be a long post so you don't have to read all of it. Let me first start off by saying this is an exciting day!! We have our design center appointment at 1:30 where we get to choose all the colors and stuff for our new house. I'm so excited. We got to choose a few things when our condo was being built but not much. I think we were only at that appointment for 30 minutes and this one is 3 hours. So I guess we have a few more decisions to make this time :)
We are leaving for California on Saturday for a week!! Wahoo, I'm so ready for a vacation. We're going to Sea World (where I secretly wish I could work) and Six Flags. We are also doing this way cool kayak/snorkel tour in La Jolla. You kayak through the 7 sea caves of La Jolla then you snorkel with Leopard Sharks (June-September is their mating season) They said the sharks mouths were only the size of a quarter but I promise I'm still scared.
I hope our sharks look more like this....

And less like this.....(IT'S HUGE)

But before we can leave Saturday I have to A. Pack for our trip B. Go to my friend Hannah's Boutique open house tonight. There is a link to her website on my blog {Hush Boutique} where she will be selling LOTS of cute baby stuff that's great for new mommy to be's or baby showers(if anyone is interested in going, let me know and I can give you the address) C. Go to our Bishop's surprise birthday party (now that Darin is assistant ward clark we have to go to these things) D. Pick up a desk we bought E. a wax appointment (OUCH!) F. and somewhere in there, manage to start packing up our entire house. The agent said they would like to close either the first or second week in July so we really don't have much time.

Ok-so that really didn't make me less stressed. I think it made it worse because now I see that it really is a lot of stuff. AAGGHHH what a crazy wonderful life we have!

Love the One You're With......

So I had to read another Emily Giffin book since the last one was good. This one was good although I almost felt like I was sinning just reading it. :)

Ellen, a 30-something NYC photographer, is married to Andy, an "all American," sensitive, handsome, and successful attorney. Ellen and Andy have a "perfect" marriage and to top it off, Andy's younger sister is Ellen's best-friend from college. Ellen couldn't be happier....that is.. until she runs into Leo, the former love of her life who broke her heart 8 years earlier. Leo is charming, funny, and has smoldering good looks that literally make Ellen weak in the knees. So when Leo expresses a renewed interest in Ellen, she is forced to reconcile the strength of her love for Andy (and respect for her marriage) with the passion and yearning she has always felt for Leo....The story really makes you think about love and what makes a successful relationship, including one with a parent, sibling, friend or spouse.

This book really gets your heart a racin and I enjoyed reading it.

I guess it's my lucky weekend....

So I'm starting to become a little obsessed with decorating and lucky for me Pottery Barn was hosting a free design seminar near my house. So I went hoping to learn a few small tidbits to help me in decorating our new house. Well, not only did I come away with a little knowledge and some free lunch, I also WON a $500 gift card to Pottery Barn. I was so excited!!! I can't wait to go put my card to use!

I'm ecstatic!!

So it's been 71 long stressful days but we are FINALLY under contract!!! I can't wipe the silly grin off of my face. We actually had a kid that was really interested but then he started getting kind of flaky and this morning an agent called and wanted to show our house. So I met her and her client there and about 3 hours later she called me to tell me they were putting in an offer. The offer is great and we accepted! It's such a weight lifted off our shoulders. I hope everything goes smooth with the buyers loan process and hopefully we'll be out in 3 weeks. We are so blessed and grateful and I know it's because we are obedient and steadfast in following the commandments and especially paying a full tithe. It's probably a little premature to be posting but I'm just so excited I can't help it!

Cupcakes in all their glory...

Darin went out of town on Monday for a few days and so I thought it appropriate to completely divulge myself into doing something totally girly. Since cupcakes are the new rave I decided to try out my own gourmet mini cakes. Alright, alright the batter was made courtesy Betty Crocker, but I did make my own cream cheese frosting. And it was SO good. (Probably because it was made with a stick and a half of cream cheese and 3/4 a stick of butter. Not to mention 2 full cups of heavenly powdered sugar. Good thing I have high metobalism.) It was especially fun putting the frosting on with a pastry bag. They were pretty simple but turned out yummy and semi cute. I'll have to try taking things up a notch on my next Martha Stewart cooking moment.
So then I'm sitting there trying to think of the best way to get a good picture and this insanely brilliant idea pops into my head. "I should put a cupcake on the floor and make Diesel lay by it and pretend like he's sad (because he always looks sad) because he can't have one." So I get them in position and am laying there on my carpet when reality hits me and I realize how completely retarded this is. So I sit there by myself with my dopey dog and crack up hysterically over what I'm doing. I think, "There's no way I'm posting this stupid picture on my blog." But then of course I decided I had to because somebody might actually think it as funny as I did. So here's the picture. I put it in the smallest format to make me feel better about how pathetic I am. =)

Returned With Honor!

Ok so this is a lame cell phone picture, but I forgot to take my camera to the airport. Darin's brother, Preston, returned home last night from his mission in Honduras!!!! It's so great to have him home and I can't believe it's already been two years. It seems like just yesterday we were saying goodbye. He was a little freaked out because he now has a 20 month old neice he's never even met and he said everyone looks older haha. He was sad to leave the people and service of Honduras but is excited to be home. We are proud of you Preston!

Running with Scissors

Where do I even begin on this book? Some reviewers describe this as a book of humor. I wouldn't. Although there are moments of irony and the characters sometimes do or say ludicrous things, as a whole it is not a funny story.
This true story covers the years of Augusten's early adolescence when he lives with his mentally ill mother's shrink and a host of other loonies in a large ramshackle house in the 1970s. Augusten's casual yet dramatic voice carries us along as he experiences adulthood thrust upon him too soon - sexual abuse by a pedophile who also resides there, and being encouraged to fake a suicide attempt so he can drop out of school early are only two of the several mind-blowing events. This book was just disturbing and if I wasn't so obsessive about finishing books all the way through I probably would have stopped half way. Very disturbing, and if I were you, I wouldn't go there.

Attention Readers!

So I'm completely obsessed with reading. Darin gets mad at me sometimes because I constantly have my nose in some book. I thought it would be fun to put an update of the books I read so that if anyone else needs ideas of good books to read you can come to my blog! I probably read at least 2 books a month so you should have a wide selection. My most recent book was

This book was really good. In a nutshell it's about a girl that doesn't ever want children and finds a guy that feels the same way, but then things change when one of them changes their minds. It's about what happens to the perfect couple when they suddenly want different things. It’s about feeling that your life is set and then realizing that nothing is as you thought it was. It’s about deciding what is most important in life, and taking chances to get it. But most of all, it’s about the things we will do--and won’t do--for love. Super cute story. I would probably rate it R mainly because it drops the F-Bomb a few times. This is the same author that wrote "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" if any of you have read those.

Shame on me

I'm really going to try harder to stay up to date on my blog. Sometimes I just get so caught up in all of lifes daily things. Be looking for new posts shortly!! And thankfully for the wonders of technology I can even make it look like I posted them when I was supposed to rather than when I actually did. I'm sorry you've had to look at Christmas pictures for so long!

Strut Your Mutt

This past weekend Diesel and I went to "No More Homeless Pets in Utah" annual Strut Your Mutt. It was held at Sugarhouse Park. It was 1.5 mile walk with your dog around Sugarhouse Park as well as booths and dog shows. Diesel was pretty tired after the walk but he finished the whole thing!! All proceeds went to NMHPU to help end the euthanasia of homeless dogs and cats statewide. When No More Homeless Pets in Utah started in 2000, 46,000 animals were euthanized each year in Utah shelters. Now, 8 years later, that number has dropped to 33,000. Hopefully that number can continue to decrease. This is my first year doing it but I look forward to many more years.

This is one pooped pup!

There were a TON of other dogs and Diesel really enjoyed seeing all the different breeds. We even saw a few Bassett Hounds. :)
